Say hi to handsome and friendly Bentley! Bentley is an Australian shepherd mix who is about 7 years old. He has unique facial markings, beautiful blue eyes and a soft, fluffy coat. Bentley is a friendly dog who loves his people with his whole heart. He is eager to please and give his full effort in training if it means he gets rewarded with some affection or tasty treats! Bentley is a very sweet dog and is friendly to most every person he meets. He also loves his dog friends but can be a bit selective initially. Because of this, it is best Bentley meets any potential buddies in the right, controlled environment.
Bentley has impeccable house manners! He is a quiet dog who enjoys gazing out a window and watching the world go by. Bentley is house trained and does not need to be crated during the day or night although when need be, he can be coaxed into his crate and settles well. He is very respectful of his living space and does not feel the need to chomp on furniture or bark all day long. He is sneaky when it comes to garbage and does best in a home with closed lid garbage cans so he can’t steal any used tissues! Because Bentley is an Australian shepherd mix, he does shed but that can be managed with regular grooming.
Bentley is a medium energy dog and really does well with matching the energy of his owners. That being said, he thrives with regular exercise and enjoys zooming around a large open space. He would absolutely love a fenced in yard that he could explore and run in or an owner who is dedicated to his exercise needs. Bentley does well on walks but does get a little excited to smell all the smells or whenever he sees a dog along the way. He will pull on the leash, whine and get excited when seeing dogs out and about but will calm down once they are out of sight. Bentley is a very smart dog and enjoys learning new tricks! He knows many commands such as sit, stay, down, shake and roll over. Bentley is also a good listener and is easily trained and corrected on his behaviors.
Bentley is a happy healthy dog but does have some specific needs. He requires a urinary food diet to prevent bladder stones, and the food has so far prevented recurrence for several years. Bentley is also a bit anxious and currently takes anxiety medication to help him be at his best and live life to the fullest. Bentley has gotten allergy symptoms on his feet in the fall but these are easily managed with medication as needed.
Overall, Bentley is a happy and friendly dog who is very smart with medium energy needs. He would thrive in a household with owners who are dedicated to maintaining his health, energy needs and training. Bentley just really loves his people and the best part of his day is being able to be involved with them. He would enjoy owners who are very engaged with him and willing to take him with them on adventures!
